The Power of Submission
Lessons from the Book of Esther

Praise and Prayers
Psalm 139
You have searched me, Lord and You know me.
You know when I sit and when I rise;
You discern my going out and my lying down;
Before a word is on my tongue
You, Lord, know it completely.
You hem me in behind and before, and You lay Your hand upon me.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,
Too lofty for me to attain.

Where can I go from Your Spirit?
Where can I flee from Your presence?
If I go up to the heavens, You are there;
If I make my bed in the depths, You are there.
For You created my inmost being;
You knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise You for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.
Your eyes saw my unformed body;
All the days ordained for me were written in Your book before one of them came to be.

There is no mistake with You, Lord!
I was born according to Your timetable, where I am now and what is happening in my life is all part of Your plan. You have created me at such a time as this. Remind me, Lord that You are the ultimate authority over my life and I humbly submit to You. Whoever is the authority You put above me whether it be my husband, parent, boss or government leaders, are also subject to You.
Lord, we trust in You and we leave the consequences to You.

As we study the book of Esther through our sister Karen, empower her words so that the lessons will pierce our hearts and convict us of any disobedience, sin of pride or the shutting out of Your word from our lives.
Search me, Oh God, and know my heart, try me and know my anxious thoughts; and see if there be any hurtful way in me, and lead me in the everlasting way.

“SPIRIT LEAD ME
This is my worship
This is my offering
In every moment
I withhold nothing
I’m learning to trust You
Even when I can’t see
And even in suffering
I have to believe it.

If You say, “ It’s wrong. “
Then I’ll say NO.
If You say “ Release.”
I’m letting GO.
If You’re in it with me,
I’ll begin.
And when You say “JUMP.”
I’m diving in.
If You say “BE STILL “
Then I will wait.
If You say “TO TRUST “
I will obey.
Teach me how to follow in Your way.
I’m done chasing feelings.
Spirit lead me…

When all hope is gone
And Your word is all I’ve got
I have to believe
You still bring water from the rock.
To satisfy my thirst
To love me at my worst
And even if I don’t remember
You remind me of my word.

I don’t trust my ways.
I’m trading in my faults.
I lay down everything
Cause You’re all that I want.
I’ve landed on my knees
This is the cup You have for me.
And even if it doesn’t make sense,
I’m going to let Your Spirit lead.
Spirit lead me…”

(Song by Influence Music and Michael Ketterer)

Lord Jesus, You have shown Yourself an example of submission, that we should follow in Your steps.
You who committed no sin, nor was any deceit found in Your mouth, and while being reviled, You did not revile in return. While suffering, You uttered no threats but kept entrusting Yourself to Him who judges righteously.

We trust You, Lord with all our hearts.
We lean not in our own understanding.
In all our ways, we acknowledge You.
For You will make our paths straight.

Jesus, You are the only TRUTH, the LIFE and the WAY! Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever! Amen.
