When you take the steps of obedience with regard to marriage restoration, do everything to seek and please only God— the Blesser—- let’s fix our eyes on Him.
“Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Heb 12:2
“So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” 1 Cor 10:31 NIV
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.” Col 3:23-24 NIV
The blessing and promises of obedience He offers according to His timetable to glorify Himself is the bonus. We will not replace the Blesser with the blessing as our Number 1.
If we are prone to making the blessing (marriage restoration) our Number 1 — the idol that supersedes / competes with Jesus again, we may not be ready for that blessing yet.
So let’s keep making it our ambition and goal to please Him.
“Therefore we also have as our ambition, whether at home or absent, to be pleasing to Him.”
2 Corinthians 5:9 NASB
But wait upon the Lord with faith:
“And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.” Hebrews 11:6 NASB
God’s word that expresses His will for marriage / marriage restoration are written for our endurance and encouragement.
“For whatever was written in earlier times was written for our instruction, so that through perseverance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.” Romans 15:4 NASB
Praying His will back to Him according to this verse gives us the confidence that it is granted.
“This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.” 1 John 5:14-15 NIV
Keep abiding in our True Vine and leave the results to Him.
“If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.” John 15:7 NIV
