When God’s Promise Takes Long

Q: I get that said that GOD hates divorce and what HE has put together let no one separate, but why is my marriage still not restored?

This was my very question years ago:

“If God is for this marriage, HE indeed hates divorce

(Malachi 2:16a “’For I hate divorce,’ says the Lord, the God of Israel.”)

then why is my marriage still not restored?  Akala ko ba faithful ang Lord, mabuti Siya, eh bakit gusto Nya akong masaktan, eh bakit hindi Nya pa inaayos  ang marriage ko?”

God is a faithful God (2 Timothy 2:13a AMP If we are faithless, He remains faithful [true to His word

and His righteous character), and HE is for our marriage (Mark 10:9 AMP Therefore, what God has united and joined together, man must not separate [by divorce].”,

BUT God is also in our marriage.  Yes, HE is the very third party in our covenant marriage; hindi lang tayo ni husband ang nagsumpaan ng “to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health”,  kasama natin ang Lord dito, and indeed, HE is true, and faithful to HIS covenant (Psalm 105:8a He has remembered

His covenant forever), kasi hindi Nya tayo binibitawan. HE is still with us in our marriage kahit na akala natin iniwan Nya tayo. We think that HE is not there kasi naka focus tayo sa earthly husband lang natin

that we are forgetting  our heavenly husband, Jesus. So our marriage to Him is intact and it is what will last until eternity.

Isaiah 54:5 AMP

For your husband is your Maker, The LORD of hosts is His name;

And your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel, Who is called the God of the whole earth.

It is easier said than done, but it is still doable. Until sina dearly beloved earthly husbands pa din ang nangunguna sa ating mga puso (sin of idolatry), then mapapatagal lang ang inaantay natin kasi more than the restoration of our marriages to our earthly husbands, God wants the restoration of His bride (His people)— tayo— to her Heavenly Bridegroom (Jesus)

(Revelations 2:4 But I have this against you, that you have left your first love.)

 We are created for HIM primarily (Colossians 1:16 All things were created through him and for him) and we are HIS brides first before we became the bride of man.  Surrendering is really difficult pero in surrendering we can show that we truly trust God, and we believe in HIS sovereignty indeed.   Naniniwala tayo na hawak Nya ang lahat ng bagay… even ang mga puso ng ating beloved earthly husbands.

Proverbs 21:1 AMP The king’s heart is like channels of water in the hand of the LORD;

He turns it whichever way He wishes.

(Psalms 66:18  AMP
If I regard sin and baseness in my heart [that is, if I know it is there and do nothing about it],
The Lord will not hear [me].)

 Instead of seeking the attention of our earthly husbands, let us seek the attention of our Heavenly Husband first.  Siya muna ang unahin natin.

Matthew 6:33 AMP

 But first and most importantly seek (aim at, strive after) His kingdom

and His righteousness [His way of doing and being right—the attitude and character of God],

and all these things will be given to you also.

Praying for the restoration of all areas of your marriage in Jesus’s name and for His glory amen.
