If God is loving, then why did He allow me to suffer in my marriage?
Why did He allow betrayal? Why did He allow my husband to leave me?
Are these the same questions that have been on your mind?
Jeremiah 31:3 (AMP)
The LORD appeared to me (Israel) from ages past, saying,
“I have loved you with an everlasting love;
Therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you and continued My faithfulness to you.”
Imagine God personally saying these words to us. And indeed, they are true.
Our loving Abba Father has loved us with an everlasting and unconditional love.
He has been actively pursuing us every day, even when we have been unfaithful to Him.
God desires a genuine relationship with His creation. We were created by Him and for Him (Colossians 1:16).
We were created to worship our Creator, yet instead of worshiping Him, we often worship and idolize His creation
—including people, and even more so, our spouses.
Because He loves us so deeply, He does not want us to be destroyed by our own idols. In His love and mercy, He intervenes. Sometimes, one of the ways He gets our full attention is by allowing trials in our marriages.
Instead of asking, “Why did You allow this to happen, Lord?”
perhaps we should ask, “Lord, what do You want me to learn through this?”
Whenever we are tempted to question or doubt His love and faithfulness, let us remember to T.R.U.S.T. God:
T – Turn to God in prayer (Philippians 4:6–7)
R – Rest in His promises (Psalm 62:1–2)
U – Understand His will (Ephesians 5:17)
S – Surrender everything to Him (1 Peter 5:7)
T – Thank Him in all circumstances (1 Thessalonians 5:18)
May we all learn to T.R.U.S.T. Him in everything He allows, knowing that He always has our best interests at heart.
Even when we cannot understand His ways, we can trust His heart, His character, and His unfailing love.
